Each year, TRIO of Northeast Florida participates in numerous events to promote donor awareness, help other recipients,
and to simply have fun.  In February, we volunteer with Saturn Donor Day, an event sponsored by the Saturn auto
manufacturer.  This event promotes donor awareness at local Saturn dealers and area college campuses.

April is National Donate Life Month. TRIO, along with other area organizations, is active in promoting donor awareness
through special events, including
Donate Life Day, which has become a major event for our local chapter, as well as a
national event that includes other TRIO chapters from across the country.

Spring and summer are filled with picnics and other fun activities.  Fall kicks off more donor events with Donor Sabbath and
the Tribute to Life ceremony in November, honoring those who have donated organs.  Along with our annual Christmas
Party at River City Brewing Company, we also host an annual Christmas Day dinner for transplant patients and their
families who are staying in Jacksonville either waiting for or recovering from transplant surgery.

U.S. and World Transplant Games
The U.S. Transplant Games are a series of Olympic-style athletic competitions open to all
transplant recipients.  Sporting events include basketball, volleyball, tennis, track and
field, swimming, cycling, badminton, table tennis, racquetball, and more!  Other events at
The Games include donor recognition ceremonies, special time for kids, opening and
closing ceremonies, as well as other educational and social events.  Competition is open to
all recipients who have been transplanted for at least 6 months and are in good health.
For complete information, visit The National Kidney Foundation's website,

www.kidney.org/transplantation/athletics/index.cfm

The 2010 U.S. Games will be held in Madison, Wisconsin.

The World Transplant Games bring together transplant athletes from around the world to
compete in an even wider array of events.  Although the competition is often very tough,
many recipients attend merely for the fun and adventure of being with fellow transplant
recipients from other countries.  In 2009, the Summer World Transplant Games will be
held on the Gold Coast of Australia, just north of Sydney.  For more information, visit
www.wtgf.org.
